For almost 25 years, I have been employed as an Education and Training professional, working with occupational employees in the telecommunications industry in a joint labor-management program. I manage a large distance learning program and consult internally on customized virtual and blended training programs that we deliver to our customer base. More recently, I've been involved in an effort to re-invigorate a for-profit subsidiary of our company. In this respect, I have been working on the business strategy development and marketing effort.
I served for several years as the Chair of the Education Foundation in our School District. In that capacity, I watched our teachers and administrators struggle to "use" technology and the Foundation struggle with the associated merits in determining whether or not to fund grant requests.
I am interested in all the ways that technology can be used to impact learning, primarily in the adult education or corporate arena, because this area is where I have the most experience. As a teenager, I became fascinated with efficiency after reading "Cheaper by the Dozen," by Frank Gilbreth and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey. The book impacted the way I approach most things in my life. I enjoy finding creative solutions to problems and am interested in the role technology can play in education, as well as efficiency and productivity.
